10月12日可谓是新州州长 Berejiklian 人生中 “最困难的一天”。现在两天过去了，她的前景并未好转。
Berejiklian 周一在面对质询时承认，自己曾与两年前因公谋私耻辱性辞职的前议员Maguire保持亲密关系。
这无异于投下一枚重磅炸弹，把新州政坛炸开了锅。Berejiklian 在新州议会问答时遭到反对党议员的严厉诘问和连续打断，议长不得不数十次对反对党议员高喊“肃静”（Order）维持会场内秩序。
发生了什么事？
新州州长Berejiklian在昨天的反腐调查会上证实，她自2015年以来一直与Maguire 处于恋情关系中，直到几个月前才分手。
Maguire 曾担任新州议员近20年，后来他在接受调查时承认，在一项与中国房地产开发商达成的交易中他收受了费用，之后他于2018年辞职。
Berejiklian 不认为与 Maguire 保持恋情关系有任何过错之处，并且说她不关心 Maguire 的财务状况，也否认了她从前男友优良财务状况中受益的说法。
Berejiklian 承认“在私人生活中搞砸了”，但是她拒绝辞职，并对记者说：“我没有做错任何事情。”
Maguire的丑闻是什么？
Maguire 曾多次访问中国和南太平洋地区的国家，且经常会带上他在Waga Waga地区的工作人员和朋友同去。
这些人支付了飞往中国的机票费用，但其他费用由别人承担，而且他们去是为了建立潜在的业务关系。
他的南太之行为中国企业集团与当地政府建立联系，有时也会签署谅解备忘录，而Maguire因组织了这些活动而获得现金费用。
调查组还获悉，Maguire还在说服几位Riverina商人参加“现金换签证（cash for visa）”计划中发挥了关键作用。
根据这一计划，这些商人将雇用一批从来不用露面上班的中国公民。这些中国公民的家人将向移民代理人王美琪（音译：Maggie Wang）支付一大笔钱，王美琪安排签证并付钱给Maguire和这些商人。
今天Maguire在腐败案听证会上承认在议会办公室收受几袋现金后为多名中国人提供了签证。
政坛反应如何？
新州反对党领袖 McKay 表示，工党将在接下来的两周内在议会问答时间中对州长穷追猛打。McKay 呼吁 Berejiklian 辞职，并可能对她提出不信任动议。
总理莫里森说，他认为 Berejiklian 是“一位了不起的州长”，自己 “绝对支持”她。他和妻子昨天发了条信息给 Berejiklian 对她表示支持。自由党的同事们则全力支持 Berejiklian。
澳大利亚前总理说，很难找到像 Berejiklian 这样的领导人，并称她只是“爱上了错误的男人”。“也许这样的结果是，人们会认识到 Berejiklian 是有血有肉的……她是人，渴望获得爱和感情，但信错了人。” “她不是第一个对男友的商业计划没有过多关注的女人。”
接下来会怎样？
Berejiklian 拒绝辞职。她表示，自从昨天给出证词后，她受到了同事们的充分支持。她还表示公众成员也对她给予了很多支持。
“我一直为这个州人民的最大利益行事。我回馈这种支持的方式是努力为这个州的人民工作，” 她说。但她也表示，她对 Maguire 涉嫌卷入到“现金换签证”计划深感“震惊和不安”。
反贪委今天就 Maguire 调查一案听取移民代理王美琪的证词。王女士此前曾对反贪委描述了“现金换签证”计划，并说她和 Maguire 都参与其中。
王女士还陪同 Maguire 多次前往南太平洋，争取让一名中国商人与萨摩亚等国家的政府官员建立联系。
